Notes

New Hampshire, 1980

I was born in 1973 in Tamworth, New Hampshire, and home-schooled until I enrolled in the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. I graduated from the academy with a degree in sculpture and painting, and in 2001 I moved to Paris, where I continue to live and work.

Most of my work is in some way a combination of painting and sculpture using oil paint and plaster.

I have had solo shows in Philadelphia, Paris and Boston and been part of group shows in Hong Kong and New York.

My next show, called "Hors du jardin" or "Outside the Garden," will run from September 19 - October 19, 2008, at the Galerie Pangée in Montreal, Quebec. If you would like an invitation to the opening on September 18, please e-mail contact@galeriepangee.com

I am most interested in representing individuals, so painting, sculpting and drawing portraits on commission has become an important part of my work.

Most recently, I have made a series of paintings of my sister Jasmine sleeping and resting. Jasmine and I will publish a book this summer entitled “Outside the Garden,” containing her poems and these paintings.

This summer, during the Shakespeare and Co. literary festival on memoir and biography, I completed “The sleeping author portrait project,” painting various writers, their family members and friends at rest.

The project will continue in a different form this August, as The sleeping village project. I will be painting sleeping people in Tamworth, New Hampshire.
